An exciting 2009
Having moved New Folium Marquees to Banbury at the start of 2009 we had an exciting first year in Oxfordshire. We worked with a variety of private and commercial clients on events ranging from ten thousand guests celebrating 800 years of Cambridge University to a marquee covered pool party for 30 guests in a garden in the centre of a rural community. We provided marquees and catering to many happy couples for Weddings throughout the year in both traditional and contemporary styles.
Christmas Parties
2009 saw the launch of our “bring your party to our party” in Adderbury, near Banbury. The party nights were a great success, combining a three course meal, coffee and a disco. Our purpose built marquee complex housed a reception area with cloakroom, a dinning area for up to 250 guests, a 9 metre bar and cocktail bar, 10 metre square dance floor in its own disco area and full kitchen complex. Due to the many positive comments we have received we feel they were a huge success and have already received enquiries in January for parties this year. Please look at the Christmas Parties page for details of the 2010 Christmas Parties.
Cambridge University
On 18 July 2009 New Folium Marquees successfully provided fifteen marquee structures for a garden party at Cambridge University Botanic Gardens to celebrate the 800th Anniversary of the University.
This was the largest gathering of University and College staff and their families ever seen in Cambridge with almost ten thousand guests.
We would like to thank Katharine Brindley of Events Unlimited and John Parker of Cambridge University Botanic Gardens for their support on this project.

800th Anniversary, University of Cambridge
New Folium Marquees are pleased to be working with Events Unlimited in providing fifteen marquee structures for the garden party at Cambridge University Botanic Gardens to celebrate the 800th Anniversary of the University.
"From humble beginning’s to its current standing as one of the worlds leading Universities. The University of Cambridge celebrates 800 years as a seat of learning in 2009. The 800th anniversary presents an opportunity to thank all staff, alumni, benefactors, students and the local community for their part in making Cambridge what it is today.
On 18 July, the Vice-Chancellor will be hosting a Summer Garden Party in celebration of the 800th Anniversary of the University. The Garden Party will be held in the University Botanic Garden and to the best of our knowledge the party will be the largest gathering of University and College staff and their families ever seen in Cambridge.
Very special thanks are due to Professor John Parker and his team for sharing the magnificent Botanic Garden with us."
Darwin Festival 2009, University of Cambridge
New Folium Marquees are proud to be providing the marquee for 500 guests at a drinks reception for the opening of the Darwin Festival in July 2009 in Cambridge.
"The life and work of Charles Darwin will be celebrated throughout 2009, marking 200 years since his birth and 150 years since the publication of 'On the Origin of Species'.
The University of Cambridge and the city at large played an important role in shaping the great naturalist. It was while studying at Christ’s college that the young Darwin first met Professor John Stevens Henslow, the man who inspired his love of natural history and recommended Darwin for the position on board HMS Beagle.
To celebrate Darwin’s achievements, and the contribution the University makes in promoting his life, work and writings, we are organising a year-long programme of events, including exhibitions, festivals, talks, debates, walking tours and much more."
New Folium Catering and New Folium Marquees Expand Their Growing Team of Employees
At a time when many businesses across the country are shedding staff New Folium is pleased to be extending their team as major new contracts generate additional work. New Folium Catering has doubled its outside catering side of the business as executive chef Georgina Smith explores new markets. We are finding our home made locally sourced (where possible) food approach is what people want when it comes down to what they eat. New Folium Marquees are pleased to welcome a new site manager to head up the on site marquee business.
